What is engraving?

Okay - so I am passing along this cool video of how engraving works! It is still an amazing art form and so worth the extra expense. I would love to have a family crest drawn out by a fabulous artist, made into a beautiful die and engraved on some beautiful paper. Of course, then I could pass it down to my daughters - might have to do this!

Enjoy! Come see us for new engraved stationery. If you order 100 cards or notes before February 17, 2009 you will get your dies for free!

Handwriting

I have always been a believer that longhand/cursive should still be taught in schools. I know, I know ... this is the electronic age. But don't they still teach math even though we have calculators? Anyway, the Wall Street Journal recently posted an article about handwriting and an excerpt from the book Script & Scribble. I am attaching the link to the excerpt here. This summer we are going to be offering some longhand/cursive workshops in our store for kids. Call us at the shop or e-mail us (paper@bennettschneider.com) your interest and we will make sure you get on our e-mail list! Think - you or your child could someday write like this...

Prentiss Douthit

We just received some fun new imprintables from Prentiss Douthit. It seems we are always struggling to find fun, modern options for the guys in our lives! These are way cool. Flasks make a great bachelor night out, guys night in, etc. and par-tay invite is so great with the apple green color and silver foil. Just a few of the many new invites we are getting in for spring.

An Organized Wedding

I love my husband - but very few things make me want to go through the whole wedding thing again! (Though there are some really fabulous new dresses out there.) However, today we received these wedding planning binders in from russell + hazel - love it! I am trying to decide if using this to plan my twin daughters fourth birthday party would be a little much! Anyway - we can order them in lots of great colors and we have these cute totes to keep them in! I am thinking white binder and white tote! Why not - you are only a bride once!

You have to see this - planner includes a signature binder in your choice of colors, 12 section tabs with pockets, planning notebook, organized adhesive note set, sheet protectors for 2 business card pages, 10 8 1/2 x 11 pages and 5 Multi-format pages. You can also download PDF templates for the set from russell + hazel.

Stationery Sale

So who doesn't have a few thank you notes to write after the holidays? Some of our favorite stationery companies are offering some great sales. Crane, William Arthur, elum and Prentiss Douthit are offering free return address printing on stationery orders. Crane is also offering a free die if you choose engraved stationery and Sweet Pea is offering a buy one get one free! What deals. I have recently ordered some new note cards and calling cards and can't wait to get them here - I have a lot of notes to write and people may start thinking I am rude!

Destination Wedding

I think if I were getting married again - and going to have the wedding in Mexico - I don't think I would be able to dream up a better invitation. This is by elum which is one of the fabulous wedding invitation lines we carry. This is three-color letterpress. If you received this invitation in the mail - don't you think you would make your travel arrangements A.S.A.P. - and buy a really great outfit too?
